Good morning everyone, If anyone could slow this term down, I would be most appreciative😊. I have just realised how close we are to the end and it has come too quickly.  Congratulations to our Merit Award winners: Allira, Sienna, Cooper and Oliver. They have all started the term with great focus and determination. ART: Recycled Art FROM MISS CHARLES: Aloha! an amazing start to our visual arts unit for this term. I have been so proud of the students responses to Ian Mutch's art work. Their art pieces  they have created by applying Mutch's techniques and style are looking incredible. Looking ahead... next week we will have a new artist in focus. The theme for the next 2 lessons with the students will be exploring the use of recycled materials to create art.    It links well with Ian Mutch's brand new book MORE, MORE, MORE which explores the message of collecting more and more things until our 'home' can no longer carry the load. The message ends with the fac

Good evening, I'm sorry this blog post has arrived a little later than usual, it has taken me a little longer to sort myself after a wonderful weekend at family camp. No matter where you were this weekend, I hope you all had a wonderful time and the best thing is...we only have 3 more days to go until the next one! What's Happening This Week? Art:   Over the next 6 weeks students will be learning Art with Miss Charles every Friday afternoon. The artist in focus for the unit is local artist, Ian Mutch. Ian's work is visible throughout the South West. Please encourage students to find and appreciate some of his murals around town. They can be found at the following locations: The Coles complex alley way between Stocker Preston and the BP petrol station, the wall across the front of the Dunsborough Pub, the large wall on the south side of Mitre 10 (near where Blue Wren Gallery used to be)  and the Art Society building near the bowling club. Mary MacKillop Morning Tea and Excursion

Image
Good afternoon, Just a reminder that this Friday the 12th of October the students will be going on an excursion to Mary MacKillop for an Open Day. Just a reminder to those parents who indicated they will attend the morning tea, it begins at 10.30am in the Secondary Quandrangle. Everyone is welcome, so if you would like to attend and haven't sent your RSVP,  let me know and I can send that onto Mary MacKillop. The students will be leaving OLC at 10.15am and returning at approximately 2pm. They need to wear their sports uniform with their school polo, not their faction tshirt. They will also take their lunch with them in their school bag, please ensure they have a water bottle on the day. As you may have heard, my son Xavier has the chicken pox and needs to be quarantined until the end of the week, therefore I will not be at school on Friday as my husband has meetings throughout the day. Mrs Holt will be taking the class. If you have any further questions, please see me.

Welcome to Term 4

Welcome back everyone, I can't believe there is only one more term to go, before these cherubs move onto Year 5!  I am hoping that you all have had a wonderful  break, especially as we were so lucky with the gorgeous weather. One of my favourite days was doing a short hike to Quinninup Falls with the boys, it was very exciting for them as we saw a snake, a bobtail and they got the chance to roll down the enormous sand dunes. Oh to be a kid again! What's On This Term? This term promises to be an exciting one! As you know we have a prac student, Miss Charles in our class from week 2-8. Being a mature age student doing her Diploma of Education, she brings many other talents along with her, one of those being Art. As an artist herself she will be completing an Art program with the students that focuses on basic techniques and a study of local artists and their work. Another passion of hers is the environment and protecting local species of flora and fauna.  In Civics and C
