What week 3 Already!?!

Good morning everyone,

It's amazing the difference a bit of sunshine can make to one's mood and outlook on life!

Yesterday was such a perfect summer's day in the middle of spring, a great little taste of what's to come. I know I made the most of it while it was here, I hope you too had fun out in the sun with your loved ones xx

This morning was such a beautiful way to start the week, my heart was filled with so much love and gratitude watching the students interact with their grandparents. The students first treated their guests with a little gift we had made for them. They then completed an interview with their grandparent, exploring many new things about them like what they loved to play, read and do at school. Lastly the students proudly took their grandparents on a little tour of the class, showing off their quality pieces of work!

Here are a few pics from this morning😊

REMINDERS - WEEK 3

Assembly Week 3 - Assembly will begin at 2.10pm this week, as we have merit certificates, 2M presenting an item and the presentation of confirmation certificates. All are welcome!

Wheelie, Walkie, Waste Free Wednesday's - Thank you so much for the strong support of this initiative last week. It was amazing to see that so many students in our class were able to gain two points each to go towards our fight to win the free excursion at the end of term! I must say the students were so happy and focused on Wednesday, what a difference I little bit of exercise can do in the morning!

It is back on again this week. Please don't worry if you can't walk or ride to school, you can help out with your nude lunch (no packaging).

SocktoberThis Friday we will be holding a ‘Rock your socks off’ dance party during the lunch break for Socktober to mark World Mission Month with the theme "Do not Fear I am with You". Children and staff are invited to wear crazy socks and make a gold coin contribution on the day to raise money for Catholic Mission Australia.

Eagle Heritage Excursion - Next Thursday the 7th November we are heading off Eagle Heritage to coincide with our Information Report topic of Birds of Prey. By Thursday a note will be sent home with more information, as well as a permission slip that needs to be sent back as soon as possible. Please keep an eye out in your child's bag for this!

We also will need 5 volunteers from each class to come along and assist with taking a group around the park collecting information and filling in their booklets. Volunteers get in for free, however we can take no more than 5, so it will be 'First in Best Dressed!'. I look forward to get out and having fun!

OLC's Got Talent - On Monday the 4th of November the students will have the opportunity to audition for OLC's Got Talent during their music lesson. All students are welcome to enter, however they do not need to do so.

Whole School Mass - There will be a whole school mass on Friday the 8th of November. I will confirm the time and location in next week's blog.

HOMEWORK - WEEK 3

1. Reading - As part of our reading group rotations, the students will be writing a book review on a familiar book of their choice. Students are to read for 15 minutes each night. Please encourage them to read out loud to you at least twice a week.
2. Mental Maths- Complete Unit 29, p 60& 61. All sections are to be completed by Friday. These are marked in class every morning.

3Spelling - LSCWC & Word Study Activity Sheet
(NEW!! PLEASE CHECK THIS OUT!!) These are to be completed by Friday.

4Champion Life Challenges - If you can encourage your child to complete at least one video challenge a week. This is a fantastic initiative which whilst increasing levels of physical activity also aims to inspire students through valuable life learning.
