Week 8

This week marks only one week until our performance assembly.  Students are madly practicing our assembly, which I am sure will be both entertaining and informative.
This week we are working on writing information reports as we break them down and examine the features and language that are used.  We are working on identifying the main point in what we read, which will help us with our paragraph writing.

Below is the mental maths video for this week.  We have practiced this in class but please watch again and review prior to Thursday as we will begin mental subtraction strategies towards the end of the week.

Students have glued their homework grids and spelling into their books as always, while Mental Maths is Unit 7.

Adrian and I will be holding our three way interviews during week 10 as I have three days in Bunbury next week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).  I will place an interview schedule on the board so please write your name next to an allotted time.  I have allowed 10 minutes for each interview, so please ensure that you are prompt to provide the maximum time allotted. If we need more time or you are unable to come and catch us, we can organise to catch up at a later date.

Sally the Sloth

Good afternoon parents, I hope you are well and the week is flying by, getting us a closer to the weekend ahead! I am writing to you to clarify the recent news the children received about Sally the Sloth in class, as I know there has been a lot of excitement around this.  As part of the Talk4Write PD I completed before school started this term, I was taught a new concept of when introducing a new writing genre, try to create a 'hook' to get the students really excited, engaged and wanting to learn more about the subject. At the start of this Term we are focusing on Persuasive writing, therefore the 'hook' I created was that Sally the sloth is apart of a breeding program at the Perth Zoo and I had made an application to have the chance to babysit Sally for a week. Week 8 Term 2

Good afternoon parents, I can not begin to explain how proud I was of all the students yesterday at the First Eucharist mass. They acted with great reverence and respect, participating so well in every part of the mass.  A tear did well in my eye when I saw the students reciting the prayers and completing the actions at the appropriate times. We thank you for the support and guidance you have given throughout the preparation of the sacrament. All of the students have taken home today their poster, banner, prayer card and cross as little mementos for you to keep and reflect on in time to come. Congratulations to Lucas, Taylah and Gabriel on receiving a Merit award at Friday's assembly, they are working hard to achieve their best .
