Week 2 Term 2

Good evening parents,

Welcome back to Term 2, we have a hit the ground running once again and the students have already completed many good quality pieces of work! From making toast, putting on a sock and feeding an alien, our Procedure writing has kept us very entertained so far. 

In the first week the students worked hard on planning our Numeracy and Literacy goals for the term, identifying what actions they need to take to achieve these goals throughout the term. Be sure to come in and take a look! 





This term the students will start to receive their pen licenses. Every Thursday we will be having Pen License presentations, rewarding those who are working hard to write with neat handwriting (majority of the time) and show pride in their presentation of their work. I want to make it clear, that we are not looking for perfect handwriting, we just need to see the students consistently taking pride in their work and doing their best.

We have started our preparation for the Eucharist in Religion and with this on its way, I get the feeling this term is not going to slow down 😊 

Just a few reminders for the coming week...


Eucharist Parent/Child Workshop - All students that will be making their First Eucharist this year need to attend with their child. 
If you are unable to attend for any reason, please make sure that you have been in touch and I can mark you as an apology. You will then need to follow up with Fr Ian to make an appointment to go through an abridged version of the content that will be covered at your convenience.
We will begin promptly at 5.30pm in the Hall and I would advise bringing a couple of extra layers as it might be cool! Please feel free to come straight from training!


Change of Date - Commitment Mass - Please be advised that we have changed the date of this Mass to Saturday 18th May at 6pm. Mrs Meyer sent an email last week advising of the change but please note the change in your diaries. All Year 4 students are expected to attend this mass.


Mother's Day Breakfast & Mass - You are warmly invited to attend our annual breakfast celebrating all that you do. Please make sure that you have sent in your RSVP and we look forward to seeing you on Friday morning at 7.30am.

Following on from breakfast we will then make our way down to the church to celebrate Mass at OLOTSC at 9.30am - you are very welcome to join us if you can!





HOMEWORK - WEEK 2
Please see below for the homework assigned for this week. If you can please support your child to complete all parts of their homework each week. This helps with their personal organisation reduces anxiety of getting in trouble when it is not done. 
1. Reading - Students are to read for 10 minutes each night.

2. Timetables practise 8's - The students are to practice at least 4 times throughout the week at home. 

3. Mental Maths- Complete Unit 11, p 22 & 23. This will be marked on Friday morning so please make sure your child brings their homework books on this day.

4. Spelling - the students are to complete LSCWC with their spelling words each night and put their words into a appropriate sentence. These are due in on Friday.

5. HASS - First Australian People  worksheet - the students need to complete the 4 information  boxes on the timeline. Due Tuesday 14th May

Week 8 Term 2

Good afternoon parents, I can not begin to explain how proud I was of all the students yesterday at the First Eucharist mass. They acted with great reverence and respect, participating so well in every part of the mass.  A tear did well in my eye when I saw the students reciting the prayers and completing the actions at the appropriate times. We thank you for the support and guidance you have given throughout the preparation of the sacrament. All of the students have taken home today their poster, banner, prayer card and cross as little mementos for you to keep and reflect on in time to come. Congratulations to Lucas, Taylah and Gabriel on receiving a Merit award at Friday's assembly, they are working hard to achieve their best . Sally the Sloth

Good afternoon parents, I hope you are well and the week is flying by, getting us a closer to the weekend ahead! I am writing to you to clarify the recent news the children received about Sally the Sloth in class, as I know there has been a lot of excitement around this.  As part of the Talk4Write PD I completed before school started this term, I was taught a new concept of when introducing a new writing genre, try to create a 'hook' to get the students really excited, engaged and wanting to learn more about the subject. At the start of this Term we are focusing on Persuasive writing, therefore the 'hook' I created was that Sally the sloth is apart of a breeding program at the Perth Zoo and I had made an application to have the chance to babysit Sally for a week.
