Week 5 Term 4

Good afternoon everyone,

Another ripper of a weekend, it can only be a sign of the awesome weather soon to come!

Congratulations to our Merit Award winners from last week:
Banjo and Kade. We are so impressed to see that both of you are working incredibly hard, right up to the end of the year.

LISTENING & SPEAKING TASK: 'If I could live in another part or the world...'
Just a reminder that the Speaking and Listening presentations began last week and WOW did we have some great presentations! Please remind your child to begin preparing or continue practicing if their speech is soon approaching.

This week Toby, Lachlan, Savannah, Sienna, Allira, Jasper, Charlie and Jye will be presenting. Please see below the roster for the following weeks:

ART: IAN MUTCH
On Friday the students were surprised with a visit from local artist Ian Mutch, who was very humble in sharing information about his career, techniques he uses and personal experiences. In recent weeks, the students have been studying and creating artworks inspired by the techniques of Ian and were super proud to hear that Ian was most impressed with their pieces. It was great to hear that one of Ian's strongest messages was that "It's ok to make mistakes, as we learn from them and often we can develop something better out of our mistake".

RECYCLED ART: Last Friday a brief about the Recycled Art project was sent home to provide you with more information about what to collect. If this piece of paper did not make it's way into your hands, I have included an image of it below:

WE WOULD LOVE IT IF ANY PARENTS ARE AVAILABLE TO ASSIST ON FRIDAY FROM 2.15pm WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF THIS ART. WE WILL NEED TO USE HOT GLUE GUNS, SO THE MORE HANDS ON DECK THE BETTER. LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE AVAILABLE.

Assembly Item:
This Friday the 9th November we have our Performance assembly where the students will be presenting a short news segment. There is no need to watch the news that morning, as we will have it sorted:)

The children have received their parts and hopefully have been practicing all weekend. I have tried to keep the costumes as basic as possible. I am hoping that the students who have a shark costume from the 'Go Fish' musical at home will be able to bring it in for us to borrow. I have included a list of the roles and costumes below. Please check with your child what they are so you can see what they need to wear. Please see me if you have any questions or queries.

Narrator: sports uniform
News Reporters: Shirt/pants/skirt/dress (something formal)
Scientist: pants, lab coat (already have at school), glasses
Sharks: costumes from musical
Dolphin: Blue/grey clothing (we can make a fin & tail at school)
Surfers: wetsuit/bathers/rashie/towel, etc.
Protestors: sports shorts and a casual top
Minister of Parliament: pants, suit, tie, etc
Readers: sports uniform
Artists: large shirt for art smock (any accessory that fits)

Can the students who have a costume to wear on the day, bring their sports uniform to get changed into after the assembly.

I thank you for your support with this, it should be something fun and a great way for us to end our year.
